During Brad Pitt’s 2014 appearance on Zach Galifianakis’s web interview series Between Two Ferns, Galifianakis asked, “Is it hard for you to maintain a suntan?” He followed with the punchline: “Because you live in your wife’s shadow.” Pitt’s precise facial reaction is not established by the published accounts available here, so the claim that he struggled to keep a straight face should be treated as unverified.
What did Zach Galifianakis say to Brad Pitt?
Galifianakis delivered a deadpan jab about Pitt’s then-wife, Angelina Jolie. Vanity Fair transcribed the exchange as: “Is it hard for you to maintain a suntan?” followed by “Because you live in your wife’s shadow.” Vanity Fair’s 2016 retrospective revisited the line after the couple’s split; E! News also reported the exchange in 2014.

Was Brad Pitt on Between Two Ferns?
Yes. The joke came during Pitt’s 2014 interview on Between Two Ferns, Galifianakis’s web interview series, known for deliberately awkward, antagonistic exchanges. Vanity Fair characterized the show’s interviews as antagonistic and filled with deadpan barbs. Yahoo Entertainment’s coverage also identifies the interview and frames the quip as Pitt living in Jolie’s shadow.
Did Pitt struggle to keep a straight face?
The reports cited here do not confirm that specific reaction. Vanity Fair wrote that Pitt “took it all in stride, of course,” but that description alone does not establish whether he laughed, smiled, or kept a straight face. Without verified footage, his precise expression should not be presented as fact.
