Yungblud’s tribute to Ozzy Osbourne was a farewell to someone he regarded as an idol and a person who understood him. Their connection began when Osbourne and his wife, Sharon, appeared in Yungblud’s 2022 “Funeral” video. After Osbourne died in July 2025, Yungblud remembered their last meeting, the cross Osbourne had given him, and the influence he hoped to carry onto the stage.
What Yungblud wrote about Ozzy Osbourne
In a tribute reproduced by PerthNow on 23 July 2025, Yungblud recalled Osbourne’s energy and laughter at their last meeting. “I didn’t think you would leave so soon … the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room,” he wrote.

He also described the cross Osbourne had given him as his most precious possession, and wrote that Osbourne would be with him in every note he sang and each time he walked onstage. The message made clear that the tribute was not only about Osbourne’s stature in rock music; it was about a personal bond and a gift Yungblud intended to keep close.
How Yungblud and Osbourne first met
Their connection began in 2022, when Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne appeared in the music video for Yungblud’s song “Funeral.” PerthNow reported that Yungblud and Ozzy met on the set. Yungblud later recalled Osbourne telling him he saw a lot of himself in the younger artist and offering advice: “Never apologize for anything. They will understand you later. Time always tells.”

The relationship continued beyond that first meeting. Yungblud appeared on The Osbournes podcast in October 2024. Clips of Sharon and Kelly Osbourne reacting to perceived similarities between Yungblud and Ozzy circulated widely, according to PerthNow.
What the reported similarities were—and what they mean
Sharon Osbourne reportedly pointed to specific habits: eating pasta before shows, watching war movies, and getting drunk on planes. These are anecdotes attributed to Sharon in PerthNow’s account, not proof that the two men had identical personalities, musical styles, or careers.

For Yungblud, the deeper connection was Osbourne’s example of being unapologetically himself. Speaking to The Independent on 13 August 2025, he called Osbourne his “North Star” and a symbol of individualism and being completely yourself without compromise.

At Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham in July 2025, Yungblud performed the band’s song “Changes.” The Recording Academy’s GRAMMY Museum recap, published 24 September 2025, says Sharon suggested the song and reports Yungblud’s account that he sang directly to Osbourne, who was watching backstage.
