Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s televised wedding included a few unscripted-feeling turns beyond the ceremony viewers saw: Turner began his aisle walk too early, officiant Susan Noles teased guests about when to stand, and former castmates reunited around the reception. People’s January 5, 2024 report describes those moments, while USA TODAY’s account adds a proposal that took place before the ceremony.
Turner started his walk down the aisle twice
Turner began walking before his cue and was asked to return to his starting position, according to People. USA TODAY adds that the groom rehearsed during a commercial break before making the walk again. The mishap happened during the January 4, 2024 televised ceremony at La Quinta Resort & Club in La Quinta, California.

Noles joked about when guests should stand
Susan Noles, a former contestant on The Golden Bachelor and a friend of the couple, made a joke as Nist prepared to enter about when guests should stand, People reported. It was a brief moment of levity amid the ceremony.
Castmates reunited around the reception
Some personal moments happened outside the broadcast. People reported that Ben Higgins danced with Leslie Fhima before cameras returned, and that Turner shared private moments with finalists Fhima and Faith Martin. USA TODAY also reported that Fhima greeted both newlyweds on the dance floor.

Bowers proposed to Mandrell before the ceremony
Before the wedding, Brayden Bowers proposed to Christina Mandrell. USA TODAY reported that he had asked Turner and Nist for permission first. “I actually reached out to Gerry and Theresa, and asked them if they’d be OK with (the proposal),” Bowers said, according to USA TODAY.

What the behind-the-scenes accounts add
The reports describe details before or between broadcast segments, rather than a complete account of everything viewers did or did not see. People reported the early aisle walk, Noles’s joke, and the private cast interactions; USA TODAY corroborated the second walk and Fhima’s dance-floor greeting, and reported Bowers’s proposal. These are entertainment-news accounts, not production records.
