The gold LED watch worn by Jimmy McGill and Saul Goodman has a plausible vintage-Mercury identification, but it has not been officially confirmed. Specialist watch coverage also identifies watches worn by Gene, Kim, Nacho, Mike and Hank; Lalo’s model remains unknown in the cited guide.
What watch does Saul Goodman wear?
There are two accounts to keep separate. In a 2017 article, Time+Tide described Jimmy’s gold, cushion-cased LED watch as difficult to trace and asked readers for help identifying it. The article did not establish an exact model. It also discussed a Rolex Daytona 16523 two-tone in a scripted scene; that is distinct from the gold LED watch that prompted the identification question. Time+Tide’s 2017 watchspotting article reproduces the dialogue, “It’s a damn Rolex,” but that line is scripted dialogue, not confirmation from the production team about Jimmy’s LED watch.
WatchReel later identified Saul’s daily watch as a vintage Mercury LED, describing a gold case and bracelet with red digits. That is a specialist publication’s identification, not an official production inventory or confirmation that every gold LED watch visible across the series is the same model. WatchReel’s Mercury LED identification is the clearest specific candidate in the cited coverage, but the earlier uncertainty is worth preserving.
Which watches are identified for other Better Call Saul characters?
The models below are identifications made by specialist watch publications, not confirmed production records. Some entries identify a specific reference; they should not be treated as equally certain simply because they appear in a list.

What watch does Gene wear in Better Call Saul?
Fratello identifies Gene’s watch as a Casio WV-59 Wave Ceptor, pointing to the mall-security timing scene. This is a separate watch from the gold LED associated with Jimmy and Saul: Gene is a different character, in a different period of the story, and the identification comes from Fratello’s scene-based analysis rather than an official prop list.
What can the watches tell us about the characters?
A watch can contribute to how a character reads on screen, but conclusions about symbolism should be treated as interpretation unless a production source documents the intention. WatchReel offers character readings alongside several of its identifications; those readings are not proof of what the costume department intended. The stronger factual ground is narrower: which outlet named which model, and whether it supplied an exact reference at all.

That distinction matters especially for Saul’s LED watch and Lalo’s watch. Saul’s Mercury identification is a published candidate, not official confirmation for every appearance; Lalo remains unidentified in the cited guide. No named costume designer, props master or production representative is quoted confirming these models in the cited coverage.

- Confirm the exact model or reference; a visually similar watch is an alternative, not the identified prop.
- Check the seller, geography, condition and return terms before buying, particularly for vintage LED watches.
- For a practical substitute rather than a screen match, compare fit and case size, display legibility, water resistance, strap or bracelet, and whether the model is currently sold.
Fratello’s Casio identification provides a concrete reference for Gene’s watch, but the cited coverage does not establish that it is currently in production or available from a particular seller. Likewise, no current Mercury LED listing is established by WatchReel’s identification.

The useful way to read watchspotting coverage is by attribution and specificity. A named reference from a watch publication is more useful than a visual description, but it still is not the same as confirmation from the show’s production. Time+Tide’s 2017 article explicitly left Jimmy’s unusual gold LED unresolved; WatchReel subsequently supplied the Mercury LED candidate. The other models listed here are also publication identifications, while Lalo’s exact watch is left open.
