It was not a real collision: the clip combined separate footage of Trump golfing and Springsteen falling during a concert, with a moving ball added to create the apparent impact.
What did the video show?
Associated Press reported that the post joined footage of Trump playing golf with concert footage of Springsteen falling onstage. The added ball made the two separate scenes appear connected, as if Trump’s shot had hit Springsteen. The sequence was an edit, not evidence that a golf ball struck him. Associated Press’ May 21 report and The Independent’s coverage described the clip as edited; the reporting does not establish that it was AI-generated.

Why were Trump and Springsteen in conflict?
The post came amid a public dispute. During his European tour, Springsteen criticized Trump, and the two were engaged in an ongoing public exchange by the time the video appeared. Euronews’ May 22 coverage placed the video in that context.
What else happened on May 21?
Springsteen released a digital EP that day. AP reported that it contained four songs recorded live in Manchester the previous week and two addresses to the audience. In those addresses, Springsteen described the administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.” Those remarks concerned the administration; AP did not report them as a response to the golf-ball video. AP’s report on the EP provides that context.
