Ozzy Osbourne’s final social media post before his family announced his death was a July 21, 2025 Instagram post about Black Sabbath’s farewell concert. It showed a poster featuring Osbourne and the band’s original members beneath the words “The Final Show.” The family announced his death the next day.
What did Ozzy Osbourne’s last pre-announcement post show?
The post appeared on Osbourne’s official Instagram account on Monday, July 21, 2025. Parade described the image as a black-and-white promotional photo, apparently hung on a mirror, with Osbourne’s name and the names of Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward above “The Final Show.” The Independent reported the fuller wording as “Back to the Beginning. The Final Show.” Parade and The Independent both connected the image to Black Sabbath’s farewell performance.
Parade reported that the post had no caption. Loudwire separately reported that it played audio of Osbourne performing “Mr. Crowley” in a 1981 recording; that audio detail is not included in Parade’s description. Loudwire
Why “final post” needs a qualification
The July 21 image was the last post before the public announcement of Osbourne’s death, not the last content ever published to his account. On Tuesday, July 22, his family announced that he had died. Loudwire reported that a separate post carrying a photograph of Osbourne performing and the family’s statement appeared on his official Instagram after the news became public. The Associated Press reported the death and reproduced the family’s announcement.

The reports establish the calendar dates, but not a verified publication time for the Instagram image or an exact time of death. It is therefore more precise to say the post appeared the day before the announcement than to claim a specific number of hours beforehand.
The farewell concert behind the image
The poster looked back to Back to the Beginning, the Black Sabbath farewell concert at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. Osbourne performed with the original lineup—Butler, Iommi and Ward. The Associated Press described the show as Osbourne’s last-ever live performance; Parade reported that it was the first time he and the original lineup had performed together since 2005. The Instagram post was thus a reference to a concert held more than two weeks earlier, not a post published on the day of his final performance. Its timing and imagery made it poignant to fans after the death announcement, but the available reporting does not establish that Osbourne intended it as a farewell message or knew it would be his last post before the news.
