Ordering was planned to begin July 9 through the McDonald’s App; the announcement does not establish that the sauce or its Crunchyroll offer is available now.
What was the Special Grade Garlic Sauce?
It was a McDonald’s USA promotional sauce created for a collaboration with the anime JUJUTSU KAISEN. McDonald’s said it was inspired by McDonald’s Japan’s Black Garlic Sauce and described it as “containing notes of garlic and soy sauce, balanced with a slight tangy sweetness.” Those flavor notes are the company’s description, not an independent tasting assessment. McDonald’s USA’s July 2, 2024 announcement set out the product and promotion details.
How could customers get it?
The announcement said the sauce was scheduled to launch July 9, 2024, exclusively through the McDonald’s App, for a limited time and while supplies lasted. Customers could get it free with an order of Chicken McNuggets or pair it with another app order. These were launch-period terms; the release does not verify present availability or continued eligibility.
What came with a sauce purchase?
McDonald’s advertised a 30-day free Crunchyroll trial with each sauce purchase, subject to offer terms. That was part of the historical promotion, not confirmation of a trial that can still be redeemed. The announcement did not provide a named spokesperson quote, campaign sales total, or performance statistic.

How does the sauce connect to JUJUTSU KAISEN?
The collaboration linked a limited-run food item and character packaging to the anime franchise. McDonald’s’ 2024 announcement said the anime was produced by TOHO animation and based on Gege Akutami’s manga, published in the United States by VIZ Media. The same release described Crunchyroll as a place to watch JUJUTSU KAISEN episodes, but it is not a current check of streaming availability.
For readers interested in the franchise beyond the promotion, the source manga is a physical-reading option; the anime is a screen-based option. Check current editions and availability before choosing a purchase or streaming service.
