Glow Wild: A Lantern Festival of Hope was Brookfield Zoo Chicago’s after-hours lantern festival in Brookfield, Illinois. Its announced 2026 run was March 19 through May 10, with illuminated animal sculptures, cultural performances and select sensory-friendly evenings. That edition has ended, and no later edition is confirmed by the sources available for this article.
What was the Chicago zoo lantern festival?
Glow Wild: A Lantern Festival of Hope brought more than 70 towering illuminated animal sculptures to Brookfield Zoo Chicago, according to Midwest Living’s February 16, 2026 report. The publication described the event as combining art, storytelling and conservation. The zoo called it a first-of-its-kind lantern festival for Chicagoland in its April 6, 2026 announcement.
The lantern subjects ranged from familiar animals such as elephants, lions, tigers, fish and butterflies to mythical creatures such as dragons. Midwest Living reported that the lanterns used color, light, sound and animatronics, with custom steel frames and painted fabrics; those construction details were reported by the publication, not specified as a zoo technical description.
When did Glow Wild run?
The 2026 edition was scheduled for March 19 through May 10. Midwest Living reported that it operated Thursday through Sunday, from 6 to 10 p.m. The zoo’s April announcement likewise described evening hours of 6–10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday for Glow Wild ticket holders, on select nights.

What could visitors see and do?
Lantern displays and illuminated paths
The animal sculptures were arranged along illuminated pathways, creating an after-hours walk-through experience. The range of real and mythical subjects gave the displays a broader visual theme than a collection limited to zoo animals.
Performances and rides
The zoo said cultural performances and demonstrations took place in the Hub of Hope. Unlimited Ferris Wheel and Carousel rides were included with event admission, according to the zoo’s announcement.

Sensory-friendly evenings and private lounge
Midwest Living reported that some Thursday evenings were designated sensory-friendly, with adjusted lighting and sound. The publication also described a Lantern Lounge available to reserve as a private setting with food and beverages for groups of up to 12. These were details of the 2026 edition; they should not be assumed for any future event.
What did 2026 tickets cost?
Advance tickets were required, and Midwest Living reported advertised starting prices of $9.95 for children and $19.95 for adults. Those are historical starting prices for the 2026 event, not current prices or evidence that tickets are available for another edition.

Has Brookfield Zoo Chicago announced another Glow Wild?
The sources cited here do not confirm a new edition. The 2026 run has ended, and dates, hours, ticket rules, prices and programming for a future Glow Wild have not been established. Check Brookfield Zoo Chicago’s official event and ticket information for any new announcement before making plans.

Its report also mentioned Tianyu Arts & Culture as a producer of similar experiences, but did not identify Tianyu as the producer of Brookfield’s event. The zoo said Glow Wild was developed in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity / Illinois Office of Tourism; that wording does not establish sponsorship or endorsement.
