Before Taylor Swift’s 35th birthday on December 13, 2024, reports citing anonymous Page Six sources said Travis Kelce was preparing a surprise, collecting birthday and Christmas gifts, and intended to make time to celebrate despite the Kansas City Chiefs’ schedule. The reports did not disclose the surprise or identify any gifts. A Kansas City party later mistaken for Swift’s birthday celebration was actually an Eras Tour wrap party, and the reviewed coverage did not establish how she celebrated on December 13.
What was reported before the birthday
A surprise, kept secret
In reports published December 6 and 7, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Glamour relayed claims from an unnamed Page Six source that Kelce was preparing something special and had told only a few close people what he had in mind. The source’s description, quoted by Elle, was: “This is a milestone birthday for Taylor so he wants to make it extra special.” That was an anonymous source’s account, not a public statement from Kelce or Swift.
Gifts gathered over several months
The same Page Six account, as relayed by Elle, said Kelce had been picking up birthday and Christmas gifts over several months when he had the chance. Glamour added that some were reportedly things Swift had casually mentioned wanting. None of the reports named a specific gift, brand or item.
The Chiefs’ schedule
The reports pointed to the Chiefs’ December 15 away game in Cleveland and their Christmas Day game against Pittsburgh as scheduling complications. The Page Six source said Kelce would make time to celebrate both Swift’s birthday and Christmas with her. This described reported intent; it did not establish how they spent the birthday itself.

What remained speculation about Swift’s plans
On December 12, Elle relayed a separate Us Weekly source’s expectation that Swift would probably spend the night in New York and enjoy a quaint gathering with close friends. The account also said she was exhausted after the Eras Tour and looking forward to downtime. These were predictions attributed to sources, not a confirmed itinerary; Elle reported that Swift had not publicly shared her plans.

How to read the reports

- Predicted, not confirmed: The expectation that Swift would be in New York with close friends came from a separate Us Weekly source relayed by Elle.
- Later correction: Vanity Fair identified the photographed Kansas City gathering as an Eras Tour wrap celebration, so it should not be treated as proof of Kelce’s birthday plan.
