What should I watch before Monarch: Legacy of Monsters?

Why the series fits between the films
The show connects the franchise’s human story across decades. Apple places season one’s modern-day story in 2015 and season two’s in 2017; both seasons also include flashbacks to the 1950s. That movement between eras is part of the show’s structure, rather than a reason to watch the films in a separate, strict chronological order. The release-order sequence above keeps the films and series installments easy to follow.
This guide covers only Legendary’s Monsterverse continuity. It is not a viewing list for Toho’s broader Godzilla film series, other King Kong adaptations, or crossovers outside this franchise.

Season two has already aired
Apple says season two premiered globally on February 27, 2026, and released ten episodes weekly through May 1, 2026. The season features Kong, Godzilla, and a new Titan called Titan X. The series is available on Apple TV; see Apple’s series page for its current listing.
Apple’s February 2026 announcement also described the wider Monsterverse as having earned more than $2.5 billion at the global box office. That is Apple’s franchise figure, not an independently audited total or a measurement tied to a specific date. The same announcement identifies Godzilla x Kong: Supernova as a planned 2027 sequel, without giving a specific release date: Apple’s February 2026 announcement.
