Spoilers for XO, Kitty Season 1 below. Kitty Song Covey ends the first season single, newly aware of her feelings for Yuri, and facing an expulsion from KISS. The Alex mystery is solved, too: he is Jina and Professor Lee’s son, not Kitty’s brother. These are the relationships and revelations that set up the next semester.
Kitty went to KISS for Dae—and their relationship ended
Kitty enrolled at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS), the school her late mother Eve attended, partly to be with her long-distance boyfriend, Dae. Dae’s arrangement to pretend to date Yuri helped create the season’s apparent love triangle, but Kitty and Dae’s story does not end with them getting back together. They break up in the finale, even though they still care about each other.

When Kitty returns to KISS, Dae hopes to keep her in his life, while still having romantic feelings for her. Their connection remains important, but they are no longer a couple.
Kitty realizes she has feelings for Yuri, but misses her chance to say so
In Episode 6, Kitty recognizes that her feelings for Yuri are more than rivalry. She does not confess before leaving Seoul. At the airport, Yuri is there to meet Juliana, her girlfriend—not to choose Kitty.

Juliana’s absence from KISS had a deeper cause than Yuri first understood. Jina, Yuri’s mother and the school’s principal, used her authority to push Juliana out after catching Yuri and Juliana kissing, seeking to protect the Han family’s image. Yuri confronts Jina over the betrayal. After the truth about Alex emerges, Jina invites Juliana back to KISS.
Min Ho’s confession leaves another possibility open
On the flight home, Min Ho tells Kitty he has fallen in love with her. Kitty has not chosen him—or anyone else—by the end of Season 1. The confession adds a new unresolved possibility to a romantic life already complicated by her feelings for Yuri and her breakup with Dae.
As Kitty actor Anna Cathcart puts it, “Kitty doesn’t need a person, obviously.” The finale leaves her romantic future open rather than settling it with a new couple.

The season’s family mystery resolves when Kitty learns that Alex is the biological son of Jina and Professor Lee. They had been in love as students at KISS. Jina gave birth without Professor Lee knowing and put her friend and roommate Eve’s name on Alex’s hospital paperwork.
That makes Alex Yuri’s biological brother, not Kitty’s. The revelation also helps prompt Jina’s effort to make amends by inviting Juliana back to school.
Kitty is expelled over the dorm rules, then allowed to return
Kitty’s grades are good enough for her to remain at KISS, but school officials discover she has been living in the boys’ dorm. She is expelled for breaking the rules. Yuri appeals to her mother, Principal Lim, and Kitty is allowed back—setting up her return for the next semester.
