Padma Lakshmi’s CBS competition is America’s Culinary Cup, a cooking show in which 16 chefs competed for an advertised $1 million prize. Its first season premiered March 4, 2026, and concluded with an 11th episode on May 13, 2026.
What is Padma Lakshmi’s new CBS show?
America’s Culinary Cup is a culinary competition created and hosted by Lakshmi. CBS describes a 16-chef field competing for a $1 million prize. Its official premise and judge information are on CBS’s show overview; CBS’s episode listing records the first-season broadcasts.
How does the competition work?
Judges assess the chefs’ food for taste, creativity, presentation, and technique. The judges named on CBS’s show page are Lakshmi, chef Michael Cimarusti, and chef Wylie Dufresne.
The finale release describes the final two chefs serving their own three-course menus after the lowest-scoring chef was eliminated. That is the finale’s stated structure, not a complete account of every round in the season. The Paramount Press Express finale announcement gives those details.

Cooking is not the only strategic element
The Associated Press reported that contestants also made strategic choices about matchups and needed to form alliances. That account adds a social-strategy element to the cooking challenges; it should not be read as a full official rulebook. In an AP interview, Lakshmi said she would judge “the plate of food they put in front of me,” rather than chefs’ backgrounds or pedigree. The Associated Press report was published March 3, 2026.
How much is the prize, and what does the $1 million figure mean?
CBS and Paramount describe the winner’s prize as $1 million. It is the advertised cash prize for the competition’s winner; the available official descriptions do not provide further terms such as tax treatment or payment timing. CBS’s show overview and Paramount’s finale release state the amount.
