According to TMZ’s report on the death certificate, the immediate cause of death was “late sequela of cerebral infarction.” In plain language, that means lasting effects or complications of a cerebral infarction—a stroke caused by an interruption of blood flow to part of the brain.
The certificate reportedly listed cerebral vascular disease as the underlying condition. It also listed aortic stenosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as contributing conditions. Those entries should not be interpreted to mean that each condition independently caused Fritz’s death. The reported manner of death was natural, not accidental.
