Footage from Christoffer Guldbrandsen’s documentary A Storm Foretold, described in a January 4, 2024, Rolling Stone report, shows Roger Stone speaking by phone with Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio on November 5, 2020, at Stone’s Fort Lauderdale office. Tarrio’s voice is inaudible in the excerpt. Stone says he is waiting for an update from the campaign, then asks to speak without the camera rolling.
What is heard in the call?
Stone refers to an awaited update from the campaign. He then says he needs to talk without the camera recording. The report says Tarrio’s side of the conversation cannot be heard, so the excerpt does not reveal what Tarrio said or establish the call’s purpose beyond Stone’s audible reference to a campaign update.

When and where was it recorded?
Rolling Stone dates the call to November 5, 2020—two days after the U.S. presidential election—and places it at Stone’s office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The footage comes from A Storm Foretold, directed by Christoffer Guldbrandsen.
What did the director say about Stone and Tarrio’s relationship?
Guldbrandsen described Tarrio as having a broader working relationship with Stone, telling Rolling Stone: “Tarrio was a fixture around Stone — helping him out, working with him on his social media, and even organizing a fundraiser for Stone just before his trial,” He also said Stone remained in close contact with Tarrio through encrypted apps before and after January 6. These are the director’s descriptions of their relationship; the short call excerpt does not independently demonstrate every detail.

What does the footage establish about January 6?
The January 4, 2024, report frames the call in the lead-up to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The recording is dated to November 2020, but it does not, by itself, show that the call caused, planned, or coordinated the later attack. It captures a call identified as being with Tarrio, Stone’s comment about awaiting a campaign update, and his request to speak off camera.
