The combined approvals exceeded $1.2 million, but they covered different events and time periods—not a single-year outlay. The plans announced at the time included an immersive dinosaur exhibition in Northbridge and a more concentrated PrideFEST across the city.
What did the City of Perth sponsor?
The council approved two distinct sponsorships. Its resolution set out the amounts, durations and conditions; approval was subject to suitable sponsorship agreements, so the vote alone does not establish that every proposed event feature was delivered or every approved dollar was ultimately paid.
| Event and recipient | Approved support | Duration and key conditions |
|---|---|---|
| PrideFEST, Pride WA | $1,029,165 excluding GST in total: $300,000 annual cash plus $43,055 annual in-kind support | Three years, covering 2024–2026. Pride WA was required to secure additional funds sufficient to maintain or grow the program. The agreement also set event delivery, acquittal and benefit-review conditions for successive years. |
| Dinos Alive, Kzemos Australia | $200,000 excluding GST | One year. The agreement required a minimum four-month run at the Northbridge Centre building and an external economic-impact evaluation. |
The figures and conditions come from the City of Perth’s 25 June 2024 council resolution. The run-length and evaluation requirements are agreement conditions, not evidence that the exhibition met them.
What was Dinos Alive planned to be?
A 2024 PerthNow report described Dinos Alive as an immersive exhibition planned for Northbridge from late May to October 2025. The proposed experience included more than 80 dinosaurs, life-sized animatronic figures that moved, and virtual-reality elements. These were announcement-era plans, not confirmation of the event’s final dates, venue arrangements or delivered features. (PerthNow’s 2024 report.)

The City’s January 2025 agenda showed no amount acquitted in the relevant Dinos Alive row at that point. Later City payment schedules recorded $110,000 in Dinos Alive sponsorship on 31 July 2025 and $55,000 on 4 September 2025. Those entries show payments recorded on those dates; they do not establish final delivery, the total ultimately paid, or final acquittal. The City’s annual cash and in-kind support was conditional on Pride WA securing enough additional funding to maintain or grow the program. The council resolution also set delivery expectations and requirements for acquittal and review in successive years. The announced schedule should not be taken as confirmation of final delivery or outcomes.
In the 2024 report, Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas described the 10-day format as “a bold vision” intended to create greater impact and vibrancy, including a hub at Supreme Court Gardens. He also said moving Fairday into the City would further position it as “the heart of PrideFEST” and a safe, welcoming destination. Those were his stated expectations, not independently measured results.

What do the records establish about payment and outcomes?
The council’s January 2025 agenda listed no amount acquitted for the relevant PrideFEST row at that time, just as it did for Dinos Alive. A blank or dash in that agenda does not by itself prove that no later acquittal occurred. The later payment entries available for Dinos Alive likewise do not provide a final reconciliation.
The records cited here do not establish final attendance, economic impact, completed delivery of the proposed Dinos Alive features, or final acquittal for either sponsorship. The City required an external economic-impact evaluation for Dinos Alive, but the available records do not supply its findings.
