The available reports do not establish that the Academy issued a formal written reprimand or identify a specific penalty against an individual guard.
What happened after the 2026 Oscars?
The encounter took place after the 98th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre on March 15, 2026. Vanity Fair reported that video posted after the ceremony showed Taylor being stopped in a crowd moving backstage for a cast photo following One Battle After Another’s six wins.
Variety, citing an eyewitness, described cast and studio personnel trying to reach the stage for a group photo after the film won best picture. In the video, Taylor can be heard objecting that a man had put his hands on her and calling him rude. She said he shoved her and nearly shoved another woman.
How did Taylor and SIS describe the contact?
Taylor’s account was that the guard shoved her. SIS, the outside security firm, said its personnel were managing a crowded area and characterized the contact as incidental. In a statement quoted by Variety, SIS said: “During that interaction, there was incidental contact and we regret that the situation escalated.” That is SIS’s description, not an independent finding about what happened.

What did the Academy say, and was anyone formally reprimanded?

The representatives said they had made clear that “This behavior is not acceptable” and that the Academy was taking appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence.
