The hotel surveillance video shows a March 5, 2016 incident involving Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway. The Associated Press reported that the footage appears to show Combs punching, kicking, shoving and dragging Ventura. CNN published the recording on May 17, 2024—more than eight years after it was recorded.
What does the Diddy hotel video show?
The Associated Press reported that the video appears to show Combs, wearing a white towel, punching and kicking Ventura, shoving and dragging her, and throwing a vase in her direction. CNN described the recording as showing Combs assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway. These are descriptions of what the outlets reported the footage appears to depict.
The video appeared to match or closely resemble an incident Ventura described in her November 2023 civil lawsuit, according to CNN and the AP.
When was the Cassie hotel video recorded, and where?
The footage is dated March 5, 2016. The AP identified the location as the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. That is the date and place of the recorded incident, not when the public first saw the video.

Why was the video released in 2024?
CNN published the surveillance footage it had obtained on May 17, 2024. Its report connected the recording to allegations in Ventura’s lawsuit, which had described actions that seemed to match the incident. The AP likewise reported that the footage closely resembled the hotel episode described in the complaint.
Ventura filed her civil lawsuit in November 2023, and the parties settled the following day. The settlement’s terms are not established in the reporting cited here. A settlement is not, by itself, a court finding of liability or proof of any particular payment.
What did Combs say after the video came out?
On May 19, 2024, the AP reported that Combs posted a public apology and accepted responsibility for his actions in the video. He said, “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” and described his actions as “inexcusable.”

How does the video relate to the federal case?
The footage was shown during Combs’s 2025 federal trial. The jury returned a mixed verdict: it convicted him on two counts of transporting people for prostitution and acquitted him of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Those verdicts were separate criminal proceedings, distinct from Ventura’s settled civil lawsuit.
