The anecdote is the extravagant post-show spending detail highlighted in a 2024 article, but the available reports do not establish what the ride cost or confirm that it was paid for with his $1 million prize.
What was the “ridiculous” thing Fabio reportedly spent money on?
The reported extravagance was a white-limo pickup after Birza’s arrest. The August 14, 2024 article identifying the anecdote was syndicated through IMDb, and an E! retrospective also recounts the pickup. Neither available account documents the price or independently verifies that the fare came from his Survivor winnings. It is therefore best understood as a reported post-arrest pickup, not a confirmed transaction with a known price tag.
What else did Birza say he did with the winnings?
The limo story is only one anecdote. Other reports describe different purchases and support, at different moments; they do not add up to a complete accounting of the prize.
- A 2011 La Prensa interview report says Birza described buying a drum kit and clothes, and giving some money to family.
- An E! retrospective says Birza later disclosed on the Survivor After Show that he bought a farm for his father and a condo for himself.
These reports concern separate uses. They do not establish when each purchase happened or whether every item was paid for directly from the prize.

What were Birza’s plans after winning?
In a December 20, 2010 interview with Gordon Holmes, Birza described ambitions rather than confirmed accomplishments: “I’m starting a production company. We’re just gonna do 45-minute short films. I’d like to do a little bit of stand-up, I think it’d be really fun. I’ve written like 60 poems. Some really cool stuff.” The interview records what he said he planned at the time; it does not verify that he completed those projects.

Associated Press coverage republished by CBS Los Angeles identified Birza as the winner of Survivor: Nicaragua and reported a $1 million grand prize. The same coverage described him as 21 at the time. That prize figure provides context for the spending stories, but it does not substantiate the cost or funding source of the limousine pickup.
