Why Streamlabs is associated with Pokimane
Historical reporting connects Pokimane with Streamlabs for alerts and tipping, including a reported $5 donation cap. The same reporting describes a later dispute over Streamlabs’ use of her images in marketing. These details concern a reported relationship with Streamlabs services; they do not establish which application she currently uses to encode and send a live broadcast. The article covering the question explicitly cautions that those interactions do not confirm her day-to-day encoder.
Alerts and tipping are not the streaming encoder
A streaming setup can involve several separate tools. An encoder captures and sends the broadcast, while alerts and tipping features handle on-screen notifications or donations. Streamlabs’ Twitch setup guide discusses connecting Streamlabs Desktop, setting up a tip page and alerts, and adjusting stream settings. That explains what the product can do in a general setup, not what Pokimane currently uses.
What the available software descriptions establish
OBS Studio
The OBS Project describes OBS as “open-source software developed by volunteer contributors around the world in their free time.” It is distributed under GPLv2 and free to use. Twitch Studio and Streamlabs OBS
Twitch Creator Camp describes Twitch Studio as its free app designed to help new streamers go live on Twitch, and lists Streamlabs OBS as offering guided setup and integrated alerts. These are general descriptions of available options, not an identification of Pokimane’s software.
Choosing software for your own stream
If you are choosing a tool rather than trying to infer Pokimane’s setup, the cited descriptions support a simple distinction: OBS Studio is free and open source; Twitch’s listed tools include guided setup, and Streamlabs OBS is described as having integrated alerts. The sources do not establish a performance ranking or show which option is best for every streamer.

Keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream online
