The album record: Spotify’s biggest album day of 2025
Spotify’s October 3, 2025 announcement said The Life of a Showgirl had become the platform’s most-streamed album in a single day that year, and that it reached the milestone in less than 11 hours. Spotify also reported more than 6 million pre-saves before the album’s release. Spotify’s announcement framed the distinction specifically as a 2025 record; it did not call it an all-time album record or publish an album stream total in that announcement.

The separate track record: “The Fate of Ophelia”
The lead single’s figure is a different achievement from the album record. Guinness World Records reported that “The Fate of Ophelia” received 30,987,370 filtered Spotify streams on its first day, making it the most-streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours. Guinness compared it with Swift’s “Fortnight,” which had recorded 25,204,472 first-day streams in 2024. These numbers describe individual tracks, not the album’s total. Guinness World Records’ report was published October 8, 2025.
What the label later reported
Universal Music Group’s October 13, 2025 recap reported 250 million streams for the album’s standard-edition Spotify debut and described it as the largest debut in Spotify history. That is a label-reported debut figure, distinct from Spotify’s October 3 announcement, which stated the 2025 single-day album milestone but did not give a stream count. The label also reported that the album sold more than 1 million vinyl units in its largest vinyl sales week in Nielsen history. Universal Music Group’s recap attributes the context to the album’s release and fan response.
