What did Sophie Monk say about having a baby?
In a report published on 11 July 2022, PerthNow said Monk told New Idea: “We both want kids,” followed by “We’re working on it.” The wording is attributed to Monk through PerthNow’s account of the New Idea interview; it is not a direct quotation independently sourced here from the original interview.
Why the comments were reported as news
Monk and Gross had married in a private ceremony at their home in New South Wales in March 2022. PerthNow reported that they met in 2018 and that Monk had previously said she had frozen her eggs. These details provide context for the July story, but do not establish what happened afterward.
What later coverage does—and does not—confirm
Nine/9Now later covered Monk’s account of an egg retrieval in 2022 and her comments about the difficulty of being asked when she plans to have a baby. Monk said, “It’s tough I think, asking women when they want to have a baby in general,” noting that people may not know what someone is experiencing or whether they want or are trying for a child. Nine/9Now’s coverage recounts her comments and experience; it does not establish a pregnancy or treatment outcome.
