The song playing as Peter and his coworkers smash the printer in Office Space is “Still” by the Geto Boys. It is easy to mix up with another Geto Boys track in the film, “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta,” but that song plays during Peter’s post-hypnosis montage, not the printer scene.
The printer-scene song: “Still”
“Still” is performed by the Geto Boys. The film’s soundtrack credits name Scarface (Brad Jordan), Willie Dennis, and Joseph Johnson as the song’s writers and Rap-A-Lot Records as the courtesy label. IMDb’s Office Space soundtrack credits list the track; Soundtrack Radar’s scene guide and TIME’s 2017 report also identify it as the music accompanying the printer destruction.

Why “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta” is easy to confuse with it
The film features two Geto Boys songs, but they accompany different moments. “Still” plays during the printer-smashing scene; “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta” accompanies Peter’s post-hypnosis change in attitude and montage. The soundtrack credits distinguish the tracks, and the montage placement is also described in The Ringer’s 2019 oral history of Office Space.
| Track | Scene | Role in the film |
|---|---|---|
| “Still” — Geto Boys | Printer destruction | Soundtrack to the characters’ release of workplace frustration. |
| “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta” — Geto Boys | Peter’s post-hypnosis montage | Accompanies his changed outlook. |
Why Mike Judge chose the song
Writer-director Mike Judge said he wanted gangster rap to sit unexpectedly against the film’s office setting. In The Ringer’s oral history, he explained: “I thought it would be perfect for the printer smashing and just as a general backdrop to the boiling anger that’s underneath the surface of these places.” He also described the contrast he was after: “I just thought that juxtaposition of hardcore rap with this sterile, weenie environment was a great idea.”

The music therefore does more than identify the scene: Judge connected the choice to the frustration simmering beneath the characters’ ordinary office routines. Geto Boys member Willie D later recalled that the printer destruction surprised viewers and said the group reenacted the scene with a printer during an Office Space–Geto Boys tour. Reflecting on the response, he said: “These motherfuckers took a printer outside and murdered a printer. Like, this is the coolest shit ever. I loved it.”
