Its focus on duality and destiny makes it a fitting reflection on twins Osha and Mae—but the reported placement is in the end credits, not as a song performed by characters in the episode.
What is “Power of Two” doing in The Acolyte?
“Power of Two” closes “Choice” over the end credits. Its themes resonate with the episode’s central relationship: Osha and Mae are twins whose lives are bound together even as their paths diverge. That connection gives the track a thematic role, echoing the story after the episode ends.
There is an important distinction between that use and an in-universe performance. The track is identified as end-credits music; there is no confirmation in the cited account that a character sings or hears it within the fictional events. The idea that it could belong among songs in the Star Wars galaxy is an interpretation, not a reported fact.
Was it the first pop song in Star Wars?
No. In a July 11, 2024 article, Sabina Graves of io9 places “Power of Two” within a longer history of pop and rock connected to Star Wars. Her examples range from fictional performers to songs performed within the story. They are illustrations, not a complete catalog of the franchise’s music.

| Example | Role in Star Wars | How it compares with “Power of Two” |
|---|---|---|
| Gaya | A Twi’lek singer associated with Galactic Starcruiser and fictional galactic pop songs. | A fictional performer, unlike Monét’s end-credit track. |
| Star Waver | A rock band in the Star Wars: Visions episode “Tatooine Rhapsody.” | Rock performed by a band within the story, rather than a song over the credits. |
| Songs in The Star Wars Holiday Special | Musical performances in the special. | Part of the on-screen fictional world, not simply an end-credit reflection. |
| “Lapti Nek” | A song associated with the Max Rebo Band in Return of the Jedi. | A fictional band performs it in the story; “Power of Two” is credited to Victoria Monét. |
| “Power of Two” | Victoria Monét’s song closes “Choice” in the end credits. | A contemporary pop track whose themes reflect the episode’s twins; an in-universe performance is not established. |
The useful comparison is not simply “pop versus orchestral music.” Star Wars has used music in different ways: orchestral scoring can shape a scene, a fictional artist can perform within the galaxy, and an end-credit song can reflect a story from outside it. “Power of Two” belongs to that last category in “Choice,” while its subject matter makes the connection to Osha and Mae especially clear.
Why the song fits the franchise’s musical range
Star Wars is strongly associated with orchestral scoring, but the examples Graves cites show that its musical world has also made room for pop and rock. Fictional performers such as Gaya, Star Waver, and the Max Rebo Band make music part of the imagined galaxy. “Power of Two” takes a different route: it accompanies the credits and offers a musical echo of the episode’s relationship and themes.
