In an August 2025 podcast appearance, Snoop Dogg questioned the inclusion of a same-sex couple in Pixar’s Lightyear after his grandson asked him how one woman could have a baby with another. Snoop said he had no answer and asked, “These are kids. We have to show that at this age?” The later story includes a disputed Instagram comment and an October collaboration with GLAAD on a song about love and different kinds of families; neither development settles what he intended in the original remarks.
What Snoop Dogg said about Lightyear
On an August 2025 episode of Sarah Fontenot’s It’s Giving podcast, Snoop recalled taking his grandson to see the 2022 Disney/Pixar film Lightyear. He said the child asked how a woman could have a baby with another woman. Snoop described being caught off guard and unable to answer.

As quoted by Euronews, he said: “These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.” He also said he was “scared to go to the movies.” TheWrap reported the remarks on August 25, 2025, and Euronews followed on August 26. Euronews said the podcast segment had been removed from the YouTube upload; the contemporaneous reports preserve the exchange.
Which scene in Lightyear prompted the comments?
The scene involves Buzz Lightyear’s friend Alisha Hawthorne and her partner, Kiko. The film shows the two women sharing a kiss and raising a child together. Snoop’s account focused on his grandson’s question about how the couple could have a baby, and his own lack of an answer in that moment.

- To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Snoop Dogg's multi-platinum Doggystyle, heralded as one of the most important albums of all time, Death Row Records will be restoring the track list back to its original 1993 debut release.
Reports described restrictions or bans related to the scene in some markets. Those accounts concern specific territories and should not be read as a universal ban on the film. Disney’s U.S. film page lists Lightyear as available on Blu-ray and digital; availability and formats may differ by country.
How the remarks were received—and the disputed Instagram comment
The comments drew online criticism, with some people describing them as homophobic or insensitive. Those characterizations reflect reactions to the remarks, not established evidence of Snoop’s intent.
Rank #2
On August 31, 2025, TV Insider reported an Instagram comment attributed to Snoop in which he said he had been caught off guard by his grandsons’ questions and wanted to learn. The comment included the line, “Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.” However, the same report later said his representative called the purported apology fake. Because the attribution was disputed, the comment cannot be treated as a confirmed statement or definitive apology.

In October 2025, Variety reported that Snoop partnered with GLAAD for Spirit Day and collaborated with The Voice alum Jeremy Beloate on “Love Is Love,” a song featured in Snoop’s animated children’s YouTube series Doggyland. Variety described the song as celebrating families with parents of different kinds.
Rank #3
In a Spirit Day conversation reported by Variety, Snoop spoke positively about children seeing families with two fathers, two mothers, or other kinds of parents, saying that “love is the key.” In a separate statement, he said the song was teaching children that “kindness is cool” and “inclusion is powerful.” This later work is relevant context, but it does not by itself explain or erase his earlier comments about Lightyear.
