What happened at the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl?
The game was officially called the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl Presented by Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop. It was played at Arizona Stadium in Tucson on December 28, 2024. Snoop’s presence was more than a name on the event: AP reported that he appeared throughout the broadcast and on the field.

- At halftime, he led both schools’ marching bands through a medley of his songs.

Why was the bowl named for Gin & Juice?
The Arizona Bowl announced a multi-year title sponsorship with Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop on May 6, 2024. The official name was the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl Presented by Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop. The announcement described it as the first time an alcohol brand had served as presenting sponsor of an NCAA bowl game.
Gin & Juice is also the title of Snoop Dogg’s 1994 song, from his debut album Doggystyle and produced by Dr. Dre. The announcement connected the event’s sponsor name to the song and said Snoop would promote the drink’s flavors at the bowl. It also listed Tucson-area activities around game day, including charity events and a youth “SNOOPER Bowl.”

How the bowl connected the game to Tucson
The Arizona Bowl pairs bowl-eligible teams from the Mountain West and Mid-American conferences. Its organizer describes the event as a Tucson nonprofit and says it directs 100% of net proceeds to nonprofits. The organization currently reports that, since 2015, the bowl has given millions of dollars to more than 70 Southern Arizona nonprofits and generated over $100 million in economic impact from out-of-town visitors. These are the organizer’s figures; its page does not specify a measurement method or a precise as-of date.
There was also a player-focused element beyond the game itself. AP reported that players from both teams participated in paid football clinics. The report said the bowl could not pay players simply for playing in the game.

What the “takeover” looked like
“Take over” is a vivid description of Snoop’s unusually prominent role, not the bowl’s formal name. The event brought together a college football game, a title sponsorship tied to one of his best-known songs, broadcast appearances and a joint halftime performance with both bands. Miami’s 43–17 win gave the afternoon its sporting result; Snoop’s appearances made him a central part of the show.
