Savannah Chrisley said President Donald Trump called her on May 27, 2025, as she was walking into Sam’s Club, and told her he was signing pardon paperwork for her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley. Her account describes the moment she learned of the planned pardons; it does not establish the final terms of any signed clemency documents.
What Savannah Chrisley said happened at Sam’s Club
In a video posted to Instagram, Chrisley said Trump called her personally while she was entering Sam’s Club and told her he was signing paperwork for both of her parents. ABC News quoted her account and reported that she later spoke with the outlet about the call, which she described as unexpected. ABC News reported on May 28, 2025.
E! News also placed the call on May 27, 2025, the day Trump announced his intention to pardon Todd and Julie. The Sam’s Club detail comes from Chrisley’s account of where she was when he called; the retailer was simply the setting, not part of the pardon story. E! News reported on May 28, 2025.
What was said in the reported call
ABC quoted Chrisley saying Trump told her he was “signing paper pardon paperwork for both of my parents.” TIME separately reported that a video of an Oval Office call, shared by White House communications adviser Margo Martin, showed Trump telling Savannah and her brother Grayson: “Your parents are going to be free and clean and I hope that we can do it by tomorrow.” These are reported statements from the call and Chrisley’s account, not the legal language of a clemency instrument. Why the pardons mattered
TIME reported that Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted in 2022 of bank and tax fraud, and that Trump announced the planned pardons on May 27, 2025. The call therefore marked the family’s notification of an intended presidential action after the convictions; the public accounts cited here do not reproduce the signed pardon documents or establish their precise legal terms.
What Savannah Chrisley said about her advocacy
In a CNN interview transcript published May 28, Chrisley said she believed her appearance on Lara Trump’s Fox program changed the course of her parents’ lives. That is her assessment of her advocacy, not evidence that a particular appearance caused the pardon. CNN’s transcript records her view.

In later reflections reported by the Associated Press, Todd Chrisley said he could not say whether fame and connections helped; Savannah credited her own efforts. Those differing personal assessments do not establish why the president made his decision. The Associated Press reported the reflections.
