AOL also reports that Funches joked, “Still not gay. Yet,” and thanked the show for helping him learn more about himself through “some type of cruel trauma.”
Was Funches formally diagnosed?
The report’s headline uses the word “diagnosis,” but its body says Funches had begun the process of getting one. He reportedly wrote that he had thought he was “just the ‘parent of an autistic child’” and that feeling misunderstood, while recognizing some of his own mannerisms, led him to start seeking an assessment. The available account does not confirm a completed diagnosis or provide independent clinical confirmation.

How did the show influence his decision?
AOL describes Funches as introverted and quotes him telling the show’s cameras he could not be “on” all the time. The article says other contestants became suspicious of him and he was eventually banished. In the reported post, he connected feeling isolated and uncomprehended during the experience with wanting to understand himself and his son better.
He reportedly reflected: “If the end result from me being isolated and feeling misunderstood on The Traitors is that I understand myself and my son more, I consider that a victory worth sharing.”
