What is Inverno about?
Directed by Paulo Fontenelle, the 2022 Brazilian film stars Thaila Ayala as Beatriz, Renato Góes as Rodrigo, and Bárbara Reis as Ana. Apple TV Brazil summarizes the setup as a quarantined couple who host a friend; events turn into a nightmare after one of their names appears on a COVID-19 death list. POPLine frames the story around a couple in marital crisis during the pandemic.
Apple TV Brazil lists the runtime as 1 hour 20 minutes and notes sexual content, violence, and drug-related content. These details describe the listing’s advisories, not an explanation of the shower scene.

How was the film made during the pandemic?
Contemporary reports say Inverno was filmed at Ayala and Góes’s home in 2020, during the pandemic; one report identifies September as the filming period. The home-based production was shaped by pandemic constraints. In a production-context quote reported by POPLine, Góes said: “A gente conseguiu trabalhar em uma época bem difícil. Ninguém estava trabalhando e a gente conseguiu ocupar nossa cabeça e dar trabalho para os profissionais de cinema”. The remark concerns the opportunity to work during a difficult period, not the masturbation scene.
