What does Peter Dinklage look like as the Toxic Avenger?
The first-look image shows the film’s version of Toxie, the mutant vigilante who emerges from Winston Gooze’s transformation. The image—not a detailed written description—is the best source for the character’s specific appearance. View the credited image in Gizmodo’s coverage of the reveal; its accompanying text does not itemize details such as the design’s colors, facial features, clothing, or prosthetics.

That distinction matters: the image is not evidence that Dinklage wore the full creature design on screen. He plays Winston before the transformation, while Luisa Guerreiro performs Toxie afterward, according to the first-look report.
Who is Winston Gooze, and how does he become Toxie?
In Macon Blair’s reimagining of the franchise created by Lloyd Kaufman and Troma Entertainment, Winston is a janitor whose life changes after a toxic accident. Cineverse’s January 22, 2025 announcement describes him as a mutant vigilante who confronts gangsters, freaks, and corrupt CEOs while trying to protect his relationship with his son.

Gizmodo gives a fuller account of the events leading to the transformation: Winston is grieving his wife, receives a terminal diagnosis, is denied coverage by his employer, and is killed and dumped in toxic waste. The report identifies Jacob Tremblay as his stepson and Kevin Bacon as the company leader. That is the publication’s plot summary; Cineverse’s official synopsis gives the shorter toxic-accident premise.
Why does Luisa Guerreiro play the transformed character?
The production separates Winston’s role from Toxie’s creature performance: Dinklage plays Winston Gooze, and Guerreiro performs the transformed figure. That is why “Peter Dinklage as Toxie” is a useful shorthand for the reveal but not a precise description of who performs the character after the change.

Blair described the design as an effort to honor the feel of the original creature while taking it in a new direction. As quoted in Gizmodo’s March 13, 2025 report, he said: “The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd [Kaufman’s] original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature, with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon’s look, while also trying to do something new and weird and lovable with Toxie’s design,” Toxic Avenger director Macon Blair told EW. “I love what Millennium FX did with it—part human, part mutant, all heart.” The last phrase is Blair’s characterization of the result, not a technical description of the effects.
Who else is in the 2025 film?
Cineverse’s cast announcement names Dinklage alongside Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Julia Davis, and Taylour Paige. The film is written and directed by Blair, whose other work includes I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore.

Where to find the film’s home-media editions
Cineverse announced a physical release for October 28, 2025. Its lineup included DVD, Blu-ray, standard 4K UHD + Blu-ray, a Steelbook, and an Amazon-exclusive 4K UHD + Blu-ray Collector’s Edition that includes the original 1984 film on 4K UHD. The announcement also listed special features for Collector’s Edition SKUs, including a Macon Blair director commentary, behind-the-scenes material, and a 40th-anniversary feature about the original film. These are announced formats and features, not confirmation of present stock or current retailer naming; check current listings for availability and exact contents.
