Michael J. Fox recalled some on-set friction with Back to the Future co-star Crispin Glover, but he did not describe a personal feud. In Fox’s account, Glover’s unconventional approach to playing George McFly sometimes complicated a scene’s blocking; Fox also praised Glover’s talent and said he loved working with him.
What did Michael J. Fox say about Crispin Glover?
Fox’s account appears in his memoir, Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum, as reported by The Independent and Us Weekly. He said Glover had his own ideas about how George should move and behave in a scene.
Fox’s reported assessment was nuanced: “His talent was unquestionable, although his methods sometimes created friction. Still, I respected how he remained true to George (as he understood and embodied him).” The Independent also reports Fox saying he “loved working” with Glover.
Us Weekly reports another line from Fox: “I knew Crispin Glover prior to Back to the Future. I wouldn’t, however, say I was prepared to act with him — there’s no way to prepare for Crispin.” The remarks portray an idiosyncratic co-star and occasional production tension, alongside admiration—not a stated personal feud.

Why did the crew build a “corral” around Glover?
Fox described a scene in which Glover was meant to stay within a lane between a clothesline and Fox, but moved beyond the intended camera frame. Fox imagined that Glover saw George as “a wanderer, a free spirit who travelled in random patterns – in this case, perpendicular to the camera.”
In Fox’s recollection, crew members made a small “corral” from sandbags and C-stands to keep Glover within the shot’s blocking. The anecdote is Fox’s memoir account as relayed by the two outlets; it is not independently corroborated here by production records.

The Independent reports that Jeffrey Weissman played George in the two sequels, but the reporting does not establish that the blocking incident Fox described caused Glover’s absence. It would be speculation to connect the two. The Independent said it contacted Glover for comment; its reviewed article contains no reply.
