Did Meghan and Harry testify at the Senate hearing?
No. The Senate Judiciary Committee’s official record for its January 31, 2024, full committee hearing, “Big Tech and the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Crisis”, does not list either of them as a witness. The five listed witnesses were executives from Discord, Meta, Snap, TikTok and X.
Contemporary reports describe the couple’s contribution as a statement issued after the hearing, not testimony or a formal address to the committee.
What did their statement say?
The couple praised parents who had advocated for action on online child safety. Their statement said: “We applaud the bravery and determination of the thousands of parents around the country whose advocacy resulted in this hearing.” The figure is part of the couple’s statement; the Senate witness record does not independently document it.

They called for responsibility and changes to be made at the source, writing: “This is not the time to pass the buck of responsibility.” The next sentence said: “It’s the time to make necessary change at the source to keep our children safe.” The statement framed child safety as an issue that crosses party lines.
What did they say about families affected by online harm?
The statement described the couple’s conversations with families affected by online harms and said the Archewell Foundation had worked with families to support grieving parents and parents of children experiencing serious mental-health conditions after exposure to harmful online content.

It also quoted an unnamed father: “If love could have saved them, all of our children would still be here.” The reports do not identify the father; the words should not be attributed to Harry or Meghan.
Did the statement endorse a bill or change Senate policy?
The statement made a general call for responsibility and online-safety changes. It did not endorse a specific bill, and the available record does not establish that it produced a legislative result. The Senate page documents the hearing and its witnesses; contemporary coverage reproduces the couple’s response.
