The “new” Santa Monica photos of Maria Shriver were reported in August 2022, not taken recently. PerthNow said she was photographed returning to her car after visiting a home construction site. Its description of her as “unrecognisable” was a subjective headline, not an objective finding.
When were the Santa Monica photos taken?
PerthNow published its report, “Maria Shriver unrecognisable in new photos in Santa Monica,” on 26 August 2022. OK! covered the same outing the day before, on 25 August 2022. In both headlines, “new” referred to photos newly reported at the time; it does not mean they are current images.
What did the reports say she was doing?
PerthNow placed Shriver in Santa Monica, returning to her car after visiting a site where a home was under construction. OK! likewise linked the outing to a home construction project. These accounts describe a specific paparazzi-photo outing, not a recent update about Shriver.
What did Shriver look like in the photos?
PerthNow described Shriver wearing leggings and a T-shirt, with a hair clip holding back her hair. The report credited the photographs to London Entertainment / SplashNews.com. Those details are descriptions of what appeared in the images, not clothing or accessory recommendations.

Was the “unrecognisable” description a verified finding?
No. “Unrecognisable” was the outlet’s subjective framing of Shriver’s appearance in the photographs. OK! also used appearance-focused language in its account, but neither headline establishes an objective change in her appearance.
Do the photos prove she had cosmetic surgery?
No. The contemporaneous coverage raised cosmetic-surgery speculation, but the reports do not verify that Shriver had a procedure. The photos and descriptions alone cannot establish a medical history, so it would be inaccurate to present that speculation as fact.
