Producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones accused Cuba Gooding Jr. of unwanted sexual touching in a civil complaint concerning Sean “Diddy” Combs. The accusation appears in Jones’s second amended complaint, filed March 27, 2024; it is an allegation, not a court finding. The Washington Post later reported that Gooding was dismissed from the lawsuit after he was not served—a procedural outcome that did not decide whether the alleged encounter occurred.
What did Lil Rod accuse Cuba Gooding Jr. of?
In his second amended complaint, Jones alleged that Gooding touched, groped, and fondled his legs, inner thighs, lower back, and shoulders without his consent. Jones said he leaned away and pushed Gooding away, and that Gooding stopped after Jones forcibly pushed him. These are Jones’s allegations, not established findings of fact. Read the complaint.

What did the lawsuit say happened on the yacht?
According to the complaint, the alleged encounter took place in January 2023 aboard a yacht that Combs had rented in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Jones alleged that Combs introduced him to Gooding, suggested Gooding get to know him better, and then left the two alone. Jones also alleged that Combs was present and failed to intervene. Those claims about Combs, like the allegations about Gooding, remain attributed to Jones.
Was Cuba Gooding Jr. dismissed from the lawsuit?
The case status changed on a procedural issue: service of the lawsuit. In an opinion dated March 24, 2025, Judge J. Paul Oetken wrote that Jones had not notified the court that Gooding had been served, despite an earlier deadline, and directed Jones to report the status of service. The opinion addressed motions to dismiss and service procedure; it did not decide whether the alleged encounter occurred. Read the March 24, 2025 opinion.

- What is established by the cited materials: Jones made the accusation in a civil complaint; the 2025 court opinion addressed the lack of confirmed service on Gooding; and the Post later reported his dismissal after he was not served.
- What is not established by that procedural outcome: whether the alleged conduct occurred. A dismissal following a service issue is not a ruling on the truth of the accusation.
The sources cited here do not establish later docket activity or a separate claim involving Gooding.
