Katy Perry’s “bandaids” pairs a breakup song about disappointment and acceptance with a darkly comic video full of near-death mishaps. The lyrics move from trying—and failing—to repair a relationship toward the recognition that, despite its ending, the love was worthwhile. Neither the song nor the video is confirmed to be about a specific person.
What happens in the “bandaids” video?
The video turns danger into dark comedy: Perry faces a run of near-death scenarios while the song considers heartbreak. Universal Music Germany described the scenarios as “near-death experiences” and characterized the presentation as self-ironic and humorous, with personal change and healing among its themes. The contrast is central to the video’s effect: the lyrics are emotionally bruised, while the images treat catastrophe with comic exaggeration.

Some coverage has compared the escalating mishaps to the Final Destination films. That is a resemblance noted by media, not a confirmed source of inspiration.
What do the lyrics mean?
The lyrics describe repeated disappointment and the strain of trying to save a relationship when superficial fixes are not enough. By the end, the perspective shifts: the relationship is over, but the love was still meaningful. That reading comes from the song’s narrative; it does not establish that Perry is recounting a particular real-life breakup.
