The plans behind the headline were for Easter 2025: LBC reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales would spend the holiday with their children in Norfolk instead of attending the traditional Easter gathering in Windsor. The report said Prince William had told the King he would miss it, but no public explanation from William, Catherine, or Kensington Palace was located.
What were William and Kate’s Easter plans?
In an April 17, 2025 report, LBC said the Prince and Princess of Wales planned to stay in Norfolk with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis rather than join the royal family’s traditional Easter gathering at Windsor Castle.
LBC reported that William had told King Charles he would miss the annual gathering. That is a news report about the couple’s plans, not a public statement from the couple or Kensington Palace confirming their decision.
What gathering were they expected to miss?
The traditional Easter occasion includes the Easter Matins service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. The reported alternative was a family holiday at home in Norfolk with their children. The available reporting does not establish why the couple chose that arrangement, so there is no confirmed rationale to attribute to them.

Did they return to the Easter service?
Yes. On April 5, 2026, the Wales family attended Easter Matins at St George’s Chapel with King Charles and Queen Camilla, as reported by ITV News Meridian and Vogue. That later appearance provides context, but it does not change what was reported about Easter 2025. A retrospective published by The British Weekly also described the family’s 2025 Easter as a Norfolk holiday: The British Weekly’s April 11, 2026 account.
