On The View on May 31, 2024, Joy Behar joked that she “started leaking a little bit” from excitement after her smartwatch alerted her that Donald Trump had been found guilty on 34 counts. She said she was shopping at Costco for Keurig coffee when the news came through.
What Joy Behar said on The View
The cohosts were discussing the New York jury verdict announced the day before. Behar recalled: “My reaction was, I was at Costco buying 10 boxes of Keurig coffee. And my watch started to buzz, and I got so excited I started leaking a little bit.” Fox News reported the remark; contemporaneous reports also carried the quote.
Whoopi Goldberg introduced the discussion by saying, “I’m going to say something you’ve never ever heard me say before: Donald John Trump is a convicted felon.” The conversation then turned to the cohosts’ reactions to the verdict.
What the “started leaking” joke referred to
Behar’s line was a joke about how excited she felt when the alert arrived. The Costco trip, coffee purchase and buzzing watch were details of her anecdote, not recommendations or a separate story about the products.

What verdict prompted the reaction
On May 30, 2024, a New York jury found Trump guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Contemporaneous coverage connected the records to concealing a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels. Fox News reported the verdict and case context.
After the joke, Behar made a separate, more serious point: she criticized Trump’s claim that the case was rigged and cited the jury’s unanimous verdict. The humor and the argument were distinct parts of the discussion, not the same claim.
