A contemporary 1991 San Antonio Light archive story reported that four Sigma Nu members pleaded no contest to misdemeanor hazing charges, and that Hamm was among members facing multiple hazing charges. Three of the four who entered plea bargains received jail time; the fourth received probation. That report does not identify Hamm as one of those given jail time, and those sentences should not be attributed to him.
What happened to Sanders’s lawsuit?
Sanders filed a civil lawsuit in 1991 that named Hamm. AP reporting says the lawsuit was dismissed in 1993. A civil lawsuit’s allegations and its dismissal are distinct from the criminal charges and their reported dispositions; dismissal does not establish the truth or falsity of every allegation.
