When Tatiana Schlossberg died
Tatiana Schlossberg, an environmental journalist and author, died on December 30, 2025, at age 35, after acute myeloid leukemia, the Associated Press reported. The family announced her death in a statement shared by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. The AP reported the family’s words: “Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts.”

January 5: a tribute drawing on Tatiana’s writing
On January 5, 2026, Jack posted a tribute that included family photographs and excerpts from Tatiana’s writing, including her book Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environmental Impact You Don’t Know You Have.
March 1: her last words to him
In a CBS News interview with Mo Rocca on March 1, Jack said he felt Tatiana was still rooting for him. He recalled that her last words to him were, “You better win,” referring to his congressional campaign. He also said, “No one knew me better and I knew no one better than her.”

June 5: “my best friend”
In a June 5 interview with David Remnick for The New Yorker, Jack said: “Tatiana was my best friend. We could finish each other’s sentences, and I miss her every day.”

Tatiana’s book, Inconspicuous Consumption, examines the environmental impact of everyday choices. Published in 2019, it received the Society of Environmental Journalists’ Rachel Carson Environment Book Award in 2020, according to the Associated Press. Jack’s January tribute included excerpts from her writing, bringing her work into his remembrance of her.
