In an April 2025 interview preview, J-Hope said he looked forward to the members finishing military service so they could quickly meet and discuss BTS’s future. He did not announce a 2025 album, comeback date or tour. The group’s subsequent plans placed its album and stage return in 2026.
What J-Hope said about BTS reuniting
Teen Vogue published a preview on April 28, 2025, from J-Hope’s interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1’s The Zane Lowe Show. The full interview was scheduled for release the next day. In the preview, J-Hope described how solo work had helped each member develop a distinct identity, and said he was curious to see how those identities would come together as BTS. Teen Vogue’s report printed this translated remark: “I think that over time, we each refined our unique identities as each of us work on their own music, come out with their solo projects and do their own thing. The funny thing for me is when our identities, which have taken shape in various ways, come together as BTS, I’m curious to see how it’ll look like.”
J-Hope also looked ahead to June, when the remaining members were expected to complete their service. Teen Vogue’s translation of the interview clip reads: “I look forward to June when our members will have completed their service. We will quickly get together and talk about what BTS can do in the future. I think it’s going to be a massive energy.” The key point is that he anticipated a conversation about what the group might do—not a confirmed release or performance schedule.
What the 2025 remarks did—and did not—confirm
The preview’s questions reflected what fans wanted to know: whether BTS was still together, whether members were still serving, whether the group would return in 2025, and whether it was disbanding. J-Hope’s quoted comments addressed anticipation and future planning. They did not announce a 2025 comeback date, album, or tour.

Military-service completion was a major step toward the members reuniting, but it was separate from announcing new music or a live performance. The later timeline makes that distinction clear:

How J-Hope described BTS’s artistic challenge
In a later interview with Weverse Magazine, J-Hope returned to the question raised by the 2025 preview: how to bring individual artistic identities together without erasing them. He said, “With that in mind, I believe the next step for BTS is to think about how we can balance our individual colors with the team without diminishing our individual colors and identities.”

He also described wanting to perform as a group again and return with a clear sense of identity: “I want to come back in style and say, ‘This is us. This is BTS.’” In the same interview, he said he still loved performing as part of the group. Weverse Magazine’s interview offers that later perspective on the creative question behind his anticipation.

In April 2025, J-Hope was talking about the first conversation BTS would have after the members completed service. The album, tour plan, release date and Seoul performance emerged as later milestones, rather than details announced in that interview. Korea.net quoted J-Hope’s reaction to the 2026 return: “What I waited for has finally become reality.” Netflix Tudum reports that BTS: THE RETURN documents the group’s comeback and the making of ARIRANG, alongside coverage of the March 21 live performance.
