The series in the headline is Alien: Earth, a science-fiction horror TV series set in the Alien universe—not a new Ridley Scott-directed film. Scott is an executive producer. A T3 article updated August 13, 2025, said the series was on Disney+ outside the United States and Hulu in the U.S.; that launch-period listing should not be treated as a guarantee of current availability in every country. Read T3’s original report.
What is Ridley Scott’s new sci-fi?
It is Alien: Earth, an episodic science-fiction horror series connected to the wider Alien franchise. The distinction matters: the headline’s “sci-fi” refers to a television series, not a feature film, and Scott’s role is executive producer rather than director, according to T3’s August 13, 2025 report.
Where can you watch Alien: Earth?
T3 reported that the series was streaming on Disney+ outside the United States and on Hulu in the U.S. at the time of its August 2025 update. That is a dated availability statement, not a worldwide or permanent listing. Disney says the titles available in the Disney+ library vary by region and may change, so check the catalog for your country before subscribing or planning a watch. Disney+’s official service page.
How does the series connect to Ridley Scott and the Alien franchise?
Alien: Earth belongs to the franchise Scott originated, but the executive-producer credit should not be mistaken for a directing credit on this series. Disney’s franchise guide includes Alien: Earth in its discussion of the universe and notes Scott’s return to it with Alien: Covenant. The guide offers franchise context, but it does not establish a definitive viewing order or the show’s current episode or season count. See Disney’s Alien franchise guide.

Should you watch earlier Alien films first?
The cited sources establish the series’ franchise connection but do not prescribe a viewing order. If you already know the films, that background may help you recognize the shared universe; if you are new to it, the available evidence does not establish that you must watch earlier titles first. Choose based on whether you want to explore the wider franchise, and check Disney’s guide for its related film titles.
