Quarter Up is Skybound Entertainment’s first in-house game development studio. Its debut game, Invincible VS, is a 3v3 tag fighter based on the Invincible comic and television franchise. Skybound says the studio was fully operational in 2025; the game launched on April 30, 2026.
What is Quarter Up?
Quarter Up is the first game development studio Skybound built in-house. Skybound’s company page lists the studio as fully operational in 2025. The company describes its broader business as developing characters and worlds through comics and graphic novels, with successful franchises able to expand into games, merchandise, licensing and live experiences. That is Skybound’s description of its model, not an independent assessment of its business results.

Xbox describes Quarter Up as led by former members of the core development team behind Killer Instinct (2013). That identifies a connection to the earlier fighting game, but does not establish a complete staff list or name every member of Quarter Up’s leadership. Invincible VS is a 3v3 tag fighting game based on the Invincible comic book and television series. It was Quarter Up’s debut title and launched April 30, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Xbox Cloud. Xbox also describes the game as supporting Xbox Play Anywhere.

The franchise connection does not mean the game adapts one specific comic storyline. Xbox describes its Story Mode as an original narrative, with a playable episode set between later episodes of Season 3 of the television series.

These are launch-date details from Xbox Wire, not a claim that the roster or mode lineup has remained unchanged since release.
What was planned after launch?
In its April 30, 2026 launch article, Xbox said a Year 1 Character Pass would add four fighters and that Universa and The Immortal were expected that summer. Those statements describe the plan announced at launch; they do not establish whether every fighter has since arrived or what is currently available. Check the relevant platform store for current content and availability.

Skybound is known for comics and graphic novels as well as screen adaptations and other franchise extensions. Its company page presents those stories and characters as potential foundations for games and other experiences. Quarter Up gives that business an in-house game studio, while Invincible VS is the first title publicly tied to it in the sources cited here. No specific reason for forming the studio is established by those sources.
