What the online listing identifies
The Scribd page is headed “Playguy Vol 1 Issue 1, 1972” and presents the upload as issue one of a gay magazine. It reports 48 pages; that figure describes the uploaded document, not an original print run or readership. The listing is a record of how the file is presented online, rather than independent proof of its bibliographic history. Scribd listing
A separate FlipHTML5 flipbook uses a filename identifying the same named issue and reports publication on April 13, 2022. That date refers to the online representation, not a verified original publication date, and the second upload does not independently authenticate the issue. FlipHTML5 flipbook

Does the 1972 title identify the Sydney magazine?
Not on the evidence available here. Historical scholarship distinguishes a Sydney periodical titled Playguy, dated 1979–80, from this online listing’s 1972 title. The scholarship also identifies the Australian gay periodical William & John, whose first issue appeared in January 1972. These references help distinguish titles and dates; they do not establish that the digitized item is Australian or authenticate it as a particular publication. Australian Humanities Review
