Laura Prepon’s natural hair color is red. In a 2002 interview, she called red her natural color and said she had not dyed it at that time. Her blonde and black-haired appearances are different looks from other roles or periods.
What has Laura Prepon said about her natural hair?
In a Q&A about Slackers published in 2002, Prepon was asked whether she had ever colored her red hair. She answered, “No,” and described how difficult it could be to return red hair to its natural color after dyeing it black. She also said she had always loved red hair. Read the 2002 Q&A.
A separate EDGE Magazine profile supports the account: recalling her childhood, Prepon said, “I have red hair.” Read the EDGE Magazine profile.
Why do some photos show her with blonde or black hair?
Prepon has appeared with blonde and black hair at different times or for roles. A MovieZine interview contrasted her naturally red-haired look on That ’70s Show with blonde hair on Are You There, Chelsea? and black hair at the time of that interview. She said she liked the different looks for different reasons, while feeling red suited her least. That preference does not change which color is natural. Read the MovieZine interview.

What does the 2002 interview establish?
It records what Prepon said about her hair and dyeing it at that time; it is not a complete account of every color treatment throughout her life. The later interviews help distinguish her natural red hair from the other looks she has worn.
