What is documented is a complicated mother-daughter relationship that, by 2008, Barbara Walters said had reached a point of mutual acceptance.
What is known about Jacqueline Guber now?
The available reporting does not provide reliable, current details about where Guber lives or what she does. A 1994 profile described Walters’s adult daughter as living quietly in the Pacific Northwest, but that is a historical account—not evidence of Guber’s present location or lifestyle. The Daily Beast’s 2025 reporting about the documentary Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything concerns Walters and their relationship; it does not establish Guber’s current circumstances.

What is documented about her relationship with Barbara Walters?
Adoption and a difficult adolescence
Barbara Walters and her husband, theater producer Lee Guber, adopted Jacqueline in 1968. In a 2002 NBC interview, Jacqueline described herself as a runaway and said she felt she did not fit in. She also spoke about experimenting with drugs as a teenager. These are her retrospective statements about that period; they do not establish anything about her adult life.
In a 2008 interview with Glamour, Walters recalled her daughter’s teenage runaway episode and enrollment in a therapeutic wilderness school. The interview describes years of difficulty, but it does not support adding a diagnosis or further details beyond what the two women said.

Acceptance and Walters’s later reflection
In that 2008 interview, Walters said of their relationship, “We are at that point now, but it took a long time.” The remark describes their relationship at the time, not Guber’s circumstances today.
Walters later acknowledged the cost of her demanding career. As quoted in a 2014 retrospective, she said, “I wish I had spent more time with my Jackie.” Walters died in December 2022 at age 93.

- Documented: Walters and Lee Guber adopted Jacqueline in 1968; Jacqueline’s accounts of feeling out of place and running away as a teenager; Walters’s reflections on their difficult relationship and later acceptance.
- Not established by the available reporting: Jacqueline’s current residence, occupation, routine, or whether her present life differs in any particular way from her life while her mother was alive.
Walters’s death is a biographical fact, but it does not by itself show how Jacqueline’s life changed afterward. Claims about her present-day lifestyle require current, attributable reporting.
