Connie Francis died at 87 on July 16, 2025, at a Florida hospital. She had publicly reported being hospitalized earlier that month with “extreme pain,” but the available reporting does not establish a specific cause of death or a complete medical timeline. A close friend’s recollection offers a personal glimpse of her final days, while her renewed attention from a viral song was part of her public life—not evidence about her death.
When and where did Connie Francis die?
The Associated Press reported that Francis died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, aged 87, at a hospital in Florida. Her friend Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow confirmed her death to the AP but did not give a specific cause. The AP’s report does not establish a medical explanation for her death.
What is known about her health before her death?
Earlier in July, Francis posted on social media that she had been hospitalized with “extreme pain,” according to the AP. Reporting at the time connected the pain to a possible broken hip and a canceled engagement, but the available accounts do not confirm that diagnosis. The hospitalization is known; its precise cause and any connection to her death are not established. The AP’s coverage does not provide a continuous medical timeline.
What did a friend say about her final days?
A PEOPLE story surfaced in AOL search results with an account from Ron Roberts, described as a close friend. In the indexed excerpt, Roberts characterized Francis as a fighter and said she had posted that she was feeling much better after a good night of rest. The excerpt says that was the last day he spoke with her. Because the PEOPLE page itself was not accessible, these details should be understood as Roberts’s recollection as reported in the indexed excerpt, not as an independently confirmed account of her final day. The PEOPLE story’s AOL-indexed excerpt is the basis for this detail.

How did Francis respond to “Pretty Little Baby” going viral?
In the weeks before her death, Francis saw a striking revival of interest in her 1962 recording “Pretty Little Baby,” after the song took off on TikTok. The AP reported that more than 22.5 million TikTok videos used the sound and that the videos had accumulated more than 45.5 billion views globally. She joined TikTok and celebrated the renewed attention, saying, “I’m flabbergasted and excited about the huge buzz my 1962 recording of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ is making all over the world.”
In her first TikTok post, Francis reflected on the song’s reach across generations: “To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is captivating new generations of audiences is truly overwhelming for me.” The AP reported that her first two videos received 16.3 million and 31.2 million views. Its retrospective said her last TikTok video, posted late the previous month, thanked artists and users who had sung along. The AP’s account of the song’s resurgence also reported Luminate figures: U.S. on-demand audio streams rose from just over 17,000 in the week ending April 10 to 2.4 million a month later, an increase of more than 7,000%; the AP said the track had surpassed 29 million streams year-to-date at the time of its report. These are snapshots from 2025, not ongoing totals.

The renewed attention was meaningful context for her final months, but it does not shed light on the cause or timing of her death. Bruce Resnikoff, president and CEO of Universal Music Enterprises, told the AP that the organization took “comfort in knowing how joyful and fulfilled she felt in these last few months, as a new generation discovered her music and celebrated her legacy.”
