Forbes reported that Bettina Anderson’s bespoke engagement ring has an 8-carat emerald-cut center diamond and two half-carat shield-cut side stones. The publication attributed those specifications and the design account to Dallas jeweler Sue Gragg; the grading details have not been independently verified here.
What the ring reportedly looks like
In a December 16, 2025, feature, Forbes described a large emerald-cut center stone flanked by two shield-cut diamonds. The long, straight facets of an emerald cut create broad flashes of light and a reflective, “hall of mirrors” effect, rather than the more intense sparkle commonly associated with brilliant cuts. That is a general description of the cut, not an independent assessment of Anderson’s ring.

These details come from Forbes’s interview with Gragg, not from an independently reviewed grading report. Forbes quoted her: “One thing you’d like to have—and most of the time you don’t get on a certification—is that the polish and symmetry are excellent and excellent, which is as high as you can get.” The precise grading claims should therefore be understood as the jeweler’s account as reported by Forbes, rather than as independently confirmed specifications.
Who made the ring?
Forbes identified Sue Gragg, a Dallas-based jewelry designer and owner of Sue Gragg Precious Jewels, as the jeweler who crafted the bespoke ring. Gragg described the stone selection and design to the publication. She also told Forbes, “Of all the celebrity engagement rings—and engagement rings in general—this is for sure my favorite.” That is her personal assessment, not an industry ranking.

Gabriel & Co., a jewelry brand, has also described the ring as an emerald-cut center stone with shield-cut side stones. That account echoes the design description but is secondary coverage, not independent verification of the diamond’s grading or measurements.
How the engagement became public
The Washington Post reported that Donald Trump Jr. and Anderson’s engagement was announced at a White House holiday party on December 15, 2025, and that Trump Jr.’s spokesman, Andrew Surabian, confirmed the news. The Post quoted Trump Jr. thanking Anderson for saying “Yes.” Forbes reported that the proposal took place over the preceding weekend.

In a later account reported by Us Weekly on December 19, Trump Jr. said he tried to distract Anderson while retrieving the ring from his coat pocket. That proposal detail is his anecdote as reported by the magazine.
