Glover directs and stars as Bando Stone, a musician shown navigating an apparently depopulated world, encountering another survivor and facing strange creatures. The trailer offers glimpses rather than a complete plot synopsis; a film release date and current place to watch it could not be verified from the sources reviewed.
What is Bando Stone & The New World about?
The trailer frames the movie as a science-fiction adventure in a post-apocalyptic-looking setting. It shows Bando Stone moving through an abandoned or depopulated environment, meeting another survivor and confronting unusual creatures and other threats. Those details describe what appears in the trailer, not a confirmed full-film synopsis. Gizmodo’s trailer report, Pitchfork’s coverage, and Exclaim!’s report describe its sci-fi or post-apocalyptic framing.

Who made the film, and what is Childish Gambino’s role?
Donald Glover directs and stars in the film. Pitchfork reports that Evi Wilder wrote it and that Glover’s Gilga produced it in association with RCA Records. Glover also scored the film under his music name, Childish Gambino. Pitchfork’s report and FirstShowing.net’s trailer coverage provide further production context.
Why did the trailer appear in IMAX?
The trailer first attracted attention through IMAX showings around A Quiet Place: Day One before appearing online, according to Gizmodo’s 2024 report. That IMAX connection documents how the trailer was presented; by itself, it does not establish a film release date or confirm where the complete movie can be seen.

Is the album release date also the film’s release date?
No. The same-titled Childish Gambino album is a separate release from the film. Sony Music Entertainment announced the album for July 19, 2024, alongside the single “Lithonia”; that date applies to the album, not the movie. Sony Music Entertainment’s album announcement identifies the album and its announced date.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When will the film come out, and where can you watch it?
A film release date and current viewing destination could not be verified from the sources reviewed. IMAX-related coverage and a trailer are not confirmation that the film is currently playing in theaters, streaming, or available for home viewing. The available sources also do not establish that it was canceled. IMAX’s 2026 press index and 2025 annual filing do not provide confirming release information, but their lack of a listing is not proof that no release exists.
