“Dia 1” was inspired by a fan’s relationship story, not a breakup Hugo Henrique said happened to him. He told Universal Music Brasil that the account arrived through an Instagram question box. The September 2024 live single also marked a personal milestone for Hugo: recording a song with Murilo Huff, who had previously recorded some of Hugo’s compositions.
Was “Dia 1” based on a true story?
Yes, in the sense that Hugo said its starting point was a real account shared by a fan. In a September 26, 2024 report, POPline described the story as submitted through an Instagram question box; Universal Music Brasil repeated Hugo’s account in its announcement the next day. The experience belongs to the fan, so it is more accurate to call the song inspired by a fan’s story than to present it as Hugo’s own breakup.

Hugo said he believed listeners would recognize themselves in the situation. The song’s narrator faces a separation, feels the longing fade, and is jolted by seeing an ex who appears to be moving on, despite the two still living in the same city. The title’s idea of “day one without you” gives that encounter its emotional frame.
Why was recording with Murilo Huff significant for Hugo?
The collaboration fulfilled a wish Hugo had held for some time. He said he admired Murilo and had already had the honor of seeing him record some of his songs; now, he had a track in partnership with him. Hugo described the right song as the missing piece. Murilo, for his part, said it was one of the best songs he had heard that year and that he was honored to record it. Both statements appeared in Universal Music Brasil’s September 27, 2024 announcement (Universal Music Brasil).

In December 2024, Hugo released a separate forró interpretation featuring Henry Freitas. It is distinct from the original live sertanejo collaboration with Murilo Huff:
| Version | Collaborator | Musical treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Original “Dia 1 (Ao Vivo)” | Murilo Huff | Sertanejo live single |
| Later forró version | Henry Freitas | Forró reinterpretation |
Universal Music Brasil’s December 13, 2024 announcement said the original video had passed 10 million YouTube views by that date. That is a dated figure reported by the label, not a current view count (Universal Music Brasil).
