Pratt’s phrase “I feel like a ghost” referred to the photographs and personal objects that had vanished with the house—not to a medical diagnosis. Montag spoke about losing a refuge and about the support fans offered afterward.
What did Spencer Pratt mean by “I feel like a ghost”?
Pratt was describing how the fire erased personal traces of his life. He spoke about losing photographs from before the iPhone era and objects that had sat on the couple’s shelves. In that context, “I feel like a ghost” conveyed the disorientation of having familiar reminders of the past disappear with the home.
It was a personal description of loss, not a clinical or diagnostic statement. ABC News correspondent Jaclyn Lee conducted the interview, which aired on Good Morning America on January 15, 2025. Good Morning America’s report covered the conversation, and ABC News’s video listing identified the interview.
What did Montag and Pratt say about losing their home?
The couple said their Pacific Palisades home and belongings were lost in the Palisades Fire. Montag described a home as a place of safety and retreat: “It’s a place that you love, that you live, that’s a refuge from the world, and to have that be gone, it’s a really difficult concept to continue to, daily, deal with.”

They also recalled the pressure of evacuating as the fire approached. Montag said she felt overwhelmed by deciding what to take and chose the children’s teddy bears. She and Pratt described their children’s room and family routines as part of what made the loss painful; those details are their recollections from the interview.
How did fans support the couple after the fire?
After the fire, Pratt urged fans to stream or download Montag’s 2010 album Superficial. The renewed attention put the album on the charts and gave fans a way to show support. Montag said, “The fan support has been such a light in such a darkness for us. And it’s life changing.” She also said the response helped them see a way to change their circumstances and provide for their children.

The music response was reported in more than one form: fans streamed and downloaded the album, while chart coverage described its rise on iTunes. The Associated Press reported on January 13, 2025, that Superficial reached No. 1 on iTunes’ all-genre songs and albums charts after Pratt encouraged fans to support Montag’s music. AP said an Apple Music representative confirmed that her Saturday streaming total was nearly 600% higher than the previous Saturday. That figure describes a historical comparison reported in January 2025, not an ongoing rate.

Figures in coverage from January 2025 are snapshots from that period, not current updates. In its January 15 report, Good Morning America said the Palisades Fire had burned more than 23,000 acres and was 18% contained as of Tuesday evening, citing Cal Fire. The same coverage reported that Montag and Pratt together had 3.2 million TikTok followers. Neither figure should be read as a present-day status or audience count.
