Natalie “Nadya” Suleman returned to public storytelling in March 2025 with Lifetime’s film I Was Octomom and the six-part docuseries Confessions of Octomom. The series featured all 14 of her children, according to ABC News. Since then, family milestones have included the octuplets’ 16th birthday and Suleman’s first grandchild. Her latest public update, in July 2026, described the preceding year as challenging.
What Nadya Suleman and her children have been doing
The most substantial recent update came in March 2025, when Suleman spoke publicly about her family and its decision to tell its story through two Lifetime projects. In an interview with ABC News, she said, “My whole family wants us to share our truth, to take our narrative back.” ABC reported that all 14 children appear in Confessions of Octomom.
The projects marked a return to public storytelling after Suleman had stepped back from the spotlight in 2013 to protect her children’s privacy, according to TV Insider. Their participation in the series does not mean every child wants a public profile; TV Insider reported that some had asked for a more private life.
The Lifetime projects
I Was Octomom is a Lifetime film, while Confessions of Octomom is a six-part docuseries. They premiered in March 2025. The Associated Press reported at the time that the series debuted on Lifetime and streamed on Hulu Live; that is a historical availability report, not confirmation that either title is currently available on a particular service. How old are Suleman’s 14 children?
Suleman had six children before the octuplets were born in January 2009. Her older children are Elijah, Amerah, Joshua, Aidan, Calyssa, and Caleb. The octuplets are Noah, Josiah, Nariyah, Maliyah, Jonah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, and Makai. TV Insider reported that the octuplets celebrated their 16th birthday in January 2025.
Suleman became a grandmother in 2024, after her son Joshua welcomed a child, according to TV Insider. In a July 2026 birthday post, she referred to her granddaughter and daughter-in-law, but the coverage does not establish further details about their identities or private lives.

What Suleman has said about family life
In her March 2025 interview with ABC News, Suleman described the octuplets’ birth as part of a larger wish for a family: “I wanted a big family, not this big, but I wanted a big family.” That is her account of her intentions. The octuplets were conceived through IVF, ABC reported. In the same interview, she characterized her children as grounded, humble, and kind; that description reflects her view as their mother.
In July 2026, Suleman’s birthday message, reported by E! News, thanked her 14 children, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. She wrote: “Though this past year has been one of the most challenging seasons of my life, I’ll at least know that my beautiful family will always be here to love and support me at my highest and lowest points.” The post did not specify what made the year challenging, so it does not support conclusions about particular events.

The available reporting does not establish Suleman’s current employment, income, or a full picture of the family’s day-to-day life. TV Insider also summarized a 2023 social post in which Suleman discussed living in Orange County and using weight training to maintain strength and mobility while managing injuries. That is a report of her experience at the time, not confirmation of her current routine or medical advice.
For background on the circumstances surrounding the octuplets’ birth, ABC News noted that California’s Medical Board revoked fertility doctor Michael Kamrava’s license in July 2011 after findings that included failures to act in patients’ best interests in fertility treatments. That regulatory action is procedural context; it should not be treated as a complete account of the family’s story or as assigning sole responsibility for it.
